Hi there, my name is Ali,
I'm a non-binary musical educator located in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island in Canada. Music has been part of my life since I was a child, it has taken me over the world as both a performer and an educator. It is how I connect with others and has been a constant companion supporting me through life's ups and downs since I was a child.
My main mission as a musical educator is to help build diverse, supportive and safe musical communities for people all ages and levels of experience. We all deserve to play music together, regardless of your level of experience or skill. Together we will build the skills and confidence necessary to feel comfortable and confident making music with others.
As a composer, to be honest, I write songs that I need to hear. My songs are real, they are human, and they are about my life. It's important to me to connect with others and when performing my music, I do my best to engage with the audience on a personal level.
All the work I have done in my life has been built upon - and thrived on - strong values, community and music.
Please reach out if you have any questions and let's build musical community together.

- Safety - Everyone deserves to learn in a safe and supportive environment.
- Trust - I will do everything within my power to provide the information and tools to allow you to grow as a musician.
- Respect - The act of learning is inherently vulnerable, I acknowledge and value the intent of those who come to me to learn. I will honour your interests and work with you towards your own goals.
- Connection - Regardless of level of experience or skill, we all deserve to play music together. A key focus of all my musical endeavours is to build the skills, confidence and relationships of those who play music so that they are comfortable and confident making music with others.

Ali has been my guitar teacher for over a year. As a teacher, Ali is superb. They are thorough, positive, encouraging, and inspiring. Their gentle teaching style is just what I needed to build confidence.
I, without a doubt, recommend Ali as a teacher for your child or for yourself.”
