Wow! What an amazing turn out of awesome people this week. Thank you all for your patience and spacial awareness in the lounge last night, I know that it was a bit close quarters. We are going to stick with the Barn Lounge for at least a few more weeks to see if we can make the space work, if it seems ridiculous find an alternate space. If it was your first time at Folk Harmonic I hope the experience wasn't too over whelming. It can take a while to get used to learning and playing in such a large group. But from what I could see everyone was doing well. If you ever have concerns or are feeling over your head or lost, please let me know at the break or send me an email ([email protected]) The more feedback I get on my teaching the easier it is for me to make Folk Harmonic an inclusive space for all. If you are a returning Folkquestrian, take a note of the new faces and introduce yourself at the break. Remember the first few classes you came to and how it felt. The whole point of this group is to create musical community, one that extends beyond Tuesdays at 7:30! If you missed this first class, take a listen through the tracks below and print out the lyrics and any other resources that might help you... We'll review things in class next week, but will be moving on to the finer details and arrangement as well. Real Midnight - Lyrics in isolation can tell different storiesTake a read through the whole song, look at the big picture, look at one verse, the chorus etc. If you just heard the chorus on its own what would you think the song is about (as many VIMW'ers did) If you just heard the 1st verse? the 2nd? the 3rd? Now as a whole, what does the song mean to you? which meaning do you like the best/makes it easier for you to sing? The Mp3 provided here is really rough, but should help isolate the parts. I would suggest listening to the original, its available on iTunes, but if you want to support the artists not the Big Corporation you can click on the button below go to Birds Of Chicago Website and buy a download or CD there. Or you can listen on youtube, there are 2 videos posted below as well. The recorded and live versions.
